Students will be starting Family Life tomorrow. A letter was sent home to parents with information in regards to this. The letter needs to be signed if your child wants to "opt out" of the program. There will be 1 girls only class, 1 boys only class and 1 co-ed class. The class is being taught by Ms. McLeod.

Tips for Multiplying
Today we went over the following tricks to try and remember some of the facts we are studying.
2 add the number to itself (example 2×9 = 9+9)
5 The last digit always goes 5,0,5,0,..,
6 if you multiply 6 by an even number, they both end in the same digit. Example: 6×2=12, 6×4=24, 6×6=36, etc
9 is 10× the number minus the number. Example: 9×6 = 10×6 - 6 = 60-6 = 54
if you add the answer's digits together, you get 9. Example: 9×5=45 and 4+5=9.
10 put a zero after it (4 x 10 = 40)
11 up to 9x11: just repeat the digit (Example: 4x11 = 44)
12 is 10× plus 2× ( Example: 12 x 6 is 10 x 6 plus 2 x 6; so 60 + 12 = 72)

Multiplication
We have been working very hard on our times tables. You may see your child bringing multiplication work home. If you have a chance, help them look over their work and check the process that they are using. We are doing 2 and 3 digits times 1 digit. This is only a review from grade 5. We will be advancing quickly into 2 and 3 digits times 2 and 3 digits. Please let me know if you think that your child needs extra help with their work.

Agendas
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. Just a reminder that agendas need to go home every day. Agendas must be filled in and signed by parents on a daily basis. If you have no homework, you must write "No homework" in your agenda, and still get it signed.
